                                 LAUNCHING 2026

This website reflects what we are working hard to achieve. We’re still in the early stages of launching and are currently securing funding and building our team so we can start delivering our services as soon as possible. Some areas — such as our accredited courses — may take a little longer to launch, as we need to register with the exam board and ensure the quality and accreditation of our teaching staff. We want to do this properly, so thank you for your patience while we get it right.

If you would like to register your interest, we will keep you updated on our developments and progress. If you would like to help us get started sooner, your support through a donation would be hugely appreciated and will go directly towards getting our programmes up and running. If you would be interested in joining our advisory board, you can find more information about this on the 'about us' page.

Thank you for believing in what we’re building and for being part of our journey. 💛

The Signing Space

The Signing Space CIC is a Manchester-based community interest company created to address the lack of free, accessible British Sign Language (BSL) education for families, carers, and individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, non-speaking, or facing communication barriers, including older adults experiencing hearing loss.

Our Services

At The Signing Space, we offer a range of BSL and communication-focused services designed to meet the needs of families, individuals, and community groups. From family-friendly classes and baby sign sessions to Deaf awareness workshops and bespoke sessions for older adults, each service aims to create welcoming spaces for learning, connection, and inclusion.

Learn British Sign Language

We offer free and low-cost Signature-accredited BSL courses designed to help learners gain qualifications. These structured classes build communication skills and cultural understanding, supporting learners in both personal and professional settings.

Baby & Toddler Sign Sessions

Our playful, family-focused sessions introduce sign language through songs, stories, and play. They’re designed to strengthen early communication and help parents, carers, and children connect through shared learning.

Deaf Awareness & Informative Workshops

Our workshops give families and carers the chance to learn more about the Deaf world in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Each session is led by a professional who shares expertise on topics such as hearing aid technology, cochlear implant surgery, early communication choices, and available support services. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and join open discussions. Workshops are scheduled throughout the year and can also be requested for specific topics.

Deaf Role Models

Our Deaf role models bring lived experience, insight, and encouragement to our sessions. They help families and learners understand the diversity of Deaf culture and provide positive, authentic examples of Deaf identity and communication.

Older Adults and Hearing Loss Support

We offer tailored British Sign Language classes for adults experiencing hearing loss, and their families, who may be finding communication more difficult. These sessions are designed to help families stay connected, reduce the risk of isolation, and ensure that learning is adapted to what works best for each family.

Learning Resources

We provide digital and print-at-home learning materials to make BSL accessible to everyone. These resources help people continue learning and stay connected beyond the classroom.
